Allies of Skin

Targeted Formulas With the Percentages on the Label

Allies of Skin was started by Nicolas Travis, who wanted fewer products that each work harder. Most formulas list their key percentages, like 10% azelaic acid or 3% tranexamic acid, so you know what you're putting on your skin.

About Allies of Skin

When Your Skin Feels Stressed

If your skin feels tight and seems to react to almost everything, look at the Copper Tripeptide & Ectoin Advanced Repair Serum. It's made to calm and repair, with 2% ectoin alongside a copper tripeptide complex. In Allies of Skin's one-month study, experts recorded 40% less irritation. Shake it before each use.

Building a Routine With Allies of Skin

The products are made to layer. Cleanse, mist, apply your serum, then finish with an Allies of Skin moisturiser and SPF in the morning. One small thing to know: Allies of Skin prints expiry dates in the American format, so the month comes first.

Allies of Skin Peptides for Firmer-Looking Skin

Peptides are short chains of amino acids. In skincare they're used to help skin look firmer and to soften fine lines, and they turn up across a lot of the Allies of Skin range.

Start with the Peptides & Antioxidants Advanced Firming Daily Moisturising Treatment. It's a moisturiser with seven peptides and nine antioxidants, and you can buy it anywhere from a 20ml size up to 75ml.

Want something more concentrated? The Multi Peptides & Growth Factor Advanced Lifting Serum pairs a 9% lifting peptide complex with a 3% growth factor complex. It goes on before your moisturiser.

Allies of Skin Serums for Dark Spots and Breakouts

These two serums are some of our most popular, and they're often mixed up. They do different jobs.

The Tranexamic & Arbutin Advanced Brightening Serum is for pigmentation. It pairs 3% tranexamic acid with 2% alpha arbutin to fade dark spots and post-blemish marks. It's been ophthalmologically tested, so you can take it right up to your eye area.

Breakouts call for the Azelaic & Kojic Advanced Clarifying Serum. Its 10% azelaic acid works on spots and redness. In Allies of Skin's 56-day study, a dermatologist saw fewer blackheads in 92% of the 25 people using it.

Allies of Skin Vitamin C 20% Serum

Vitamin C earns its place in a morning routine. It's an antioxidant, so it helps defend your skin against environmental stressors, and with regular use it brightens a dull, uneven tone.

The catch? Vitamin C breaks down easily. Allies of Skin uses a waterless base to help keep its 20% vitamin C potent, and the balm-like texture melts into damp skin with a light-reflecting finish.

Expert Tip for Allies of Skin

"Allies of Skin makes a lot of strong actives, and it's tempting to use them all at once. Don't. Pick the one serum that matches your main concern and give it four to six weeks before you judge it. If you're adding a retinal night cream, keep it to the evening and start with a few nights a week. Then finish every morning with SPF. Brightening serums can't do much if the sun keeps undoing their work."

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Peptides & Antioxidants Firming Daily Treatment a moisturiser?

Yes. Use it exactly as you would a moisturiser, with one to three pumps over your face and neck. In the morning, follow it with SPF. If you'd like to try it first, the 20ml size is a cheaper way in.

Should I choose the 0.05% or 0.1% Retinal & Peptides night cream?

If you've never used a retinoid, start with the 0.05%. Move up to the 0.1% once your skin is used to it. Both use retinal, which Allies of Skin says is three times more bioactive than retinol. Use them at night only, and wear SPF the next day.

Which Allies of Skin cleanser is best for dry or sensitive skin?

The Molecular Silk Amino Hydrating Cleanser. It's a rich gel that turns into a soft foam, and it's made for very dry and sensitive skin. To take off makeup and sunscreen, massage it into dry skin first, then add water. It comes in 100ml and 250ml.

What does the Allies of Skin lip balm do?

The Peptide & Ceramide Repair Lip Balm is a colourless, non-sticky treatment for dry, chapped lips. Ceramide NP and palmitoyl tripeptide-5 help build a moisture barrier and keep lips supple. Wear it alone or under lipstick. Prefer a bit of colour? The Peptint Plumping Lip Treatments add a sheer tint with a glossy finish.

How do I use the Molecular Saviour Probiotics Treatment Mist?

After cleansing, close your eyes and mist your face and neck. Then apply your serum. It contains 5% niacinamide, which helps with the look of pores. You can also spritz it over makeup during the day, and it's a good one to keep in your bag for flights.

Can I use vitamin C and retinal together?

Yes, just not at the same time. Use the Vitamin C 20% serum in the morning, under SPF. Keep the retinal night cream for the evening. That way each one does its job, and your skin is less likely to get irritated.

Where's the Mandelic Pigmentation Corrector Night Serum?

We don't currently stock it. If you used it for dark spots, the Tranexamic & Arbutin Advanced Brightening Serum is the one we'd point you to. It's designed for pigmentation and post-blemish marks.

Can I use Allies of Skin while pregnant?

Some products will be fine, but skip the retinal night creams, as retinoids generally aren't recommended during pregnancy. Check with your GP or midwife before adding anything new. Our expert team can help you look at ingredient lists too.
